When the air inside your Florida home is full of pollutants and various debris, you’re putting the health of you and your loved ones at risk. Unfortunately, many homeowners don’t know how to fix the problem. We’d like to help you out, which is why we’ve list a few of our favorite ways to prevent indoor air pollution:
Test Your Air
Before you begin treating your home’s indoor air, it’s a good idea to know exactly what you’re dealing with. Although certain pollutants such as dust mites are probably a given, your air could have something much more deadly floating around. Radon, for example, is an invisible, odorless gas that can cause cancer if left untreated. Because of this, it’s a good idea to hire a professional HVAC technician to test the air for you.
Remove Noxious Chemicals
Most homes have some kind of products containing dangerous chemicals under the kitchen sink or elsewhere. Air fresheners also contain harmful chemicals. The best way to fix this problem is to switch to natural products whenever possible. And when you must use chemicals, do so sparingly.
Upgrade the Air Filter
The average air filter isn’t designed to remove most pollutants from your air as they cycle through the system. For this to happen, you’ll need to upgrade to a more advanced filter. It will cost a bit of money, depending on the quality, but it can work wonders for the cleanliness of your air.
Install an Electronic Air Cleaner
Although these devices cost more than a filter, they’re also highly effective in removing harmful pollutants from your air. If you want your indoor air to be clean, this is the way to do it.
