How to Improve Your Home's Air Quality

Although many people voice concern with outdoor air quality due to pollution, allergens, and other contaminants, your home’s indoor air quality actually poses a greater threat. Because the air in your home is constantly recycled, a variety of contaminants inside your home is continuously recycled, and may cause your health to suffer. However, there are remedies that help you improve your indoor air. Opening the windows, changing your air fresheners, and replacing your air filters can help improve the air quality in your Bradenton, Florida, home.

Open the Windows

This easy fix only requires you to open your windows for five to 10 minutes a day. When you do, it allows toxic household chemicals and carbon dioxide to leave the home and brings fresh oxygenated air inside. If temperatures permit, you may even want to leave the windows open all day, as it vastly improves air quality while also lowering your monthly energy bill.

Change Your Cleaners and Air Fresheners

Although it’s nice to walk in and smell the aroma of air fresheners and cleaners, these products often contain harmful chemicals or volatile organic compounds that can cause respiratory problems over time. Try to switch your household cleaners to organic versions, or make your own by mixing water and essential oils. If you want a pleasant smell in your home, try natural ways like placing freshly cut lemons around the house.

Replace Your Air Filter

Every HVAC system has an air filter that helps remove debris and dust from the air before it enters your air ducts. Unfortunately, these filters don’t clean themselves. Once every 90 days, and preferably more often, you should replace your filter with a new one. If you’ve never purchased a new filter, take the old one with you to a home improvement store to find the right replacement. You can also schedule a tuneup with us, and we’ll take care of the filter for you.

By following these tips, you’ll drastically improve your home’s air quality. If you find that these solutions still don’t provide the purification you desire, don’t hesitate to call Climatic Conditioning Co. at (941) 758-3080.
